February 8th, the honored birthday of Scouting in the United States. It was on this day in 1910 that The Boy Scouts of America was founded.
2010 was marked by Councils and Districts across the country celebrating 100 years of heritage. The National Jamboree was for certain one of those once in a lifetime experiences I’ll share with my son. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were still blowing out the candles at AP Hill.
I started this blog just under a year ago after participating in the first 100 Days of Scouting. 100 Days of Scouting is a challenge to do something, anything big or small, for Scouting each day for 100 days… and share it.
My journey as it were didn’t start February 8th last year, but a couple weeks later when my son and I crossed from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. The blog was a record of my first 100 days as a leader of our Troop and a challenge to myself of 100 days to make an impact.
“Try to leave this world a little better than you found it and, when your turn comes to die, you can die happy in feeling that at any rate you have not wasted your time but have done your best.” –Lord Baden-Powell, Founder of Scouting
Each day is a new opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others and God willing the future leaders and citizens of our country. Doing anything for 100 days straight isn’t easy but easy and Scouts don’t necessarily go hand in hand do they? So go on, don’t just sit there reading – go do something for Scouting, and then if you like come back and share.
